Adoptable Questions

  • My Grandfather’s Cat does not have a physical location. All of our adoptables are currently in their homes across Canada.

  • The goal of My Grandfather’s Cat is to keep the animal with their human up until the very last day possible, which means we do not house the animals as a traditional shelter.

  • My Grandfather’s Cat is a free service for seniors and terminally ill people.

  • There are no adoption fees. It is free to adopt an animal through us.

  • Yes, we help both cats and dogs at this time.

  • We recommend the animals second forever home be in the city or province they are currently located, but if their human chooses a family outside the province, they are responsible for arranging transportation between themselves and the adoptee.

  • As we are not a shelter, and do not house animals, we ask that you do not leave your animal to us in your will. We recommend you look for local shelters in your area that offer this type of assistance.

  • Yes, we are a registered charity and issue CRA compliant tax receipts when you donate online.

  • At this time, My Grandfather’s Cat is only operational in Canada, meaning you have to be located in Canada to adopt through us.

  • While we greatly appreciate your desire to help us expand, we have decided to not expand in a chapter format.

    We plan to expand to new countries one at a time, as we are ready and have the financial resources to do so. This will ensure our service is available for all who need it, and doesn’t become location based.

  • At this time, our team is actively working on a USA expansion plan and will release the date when it is confirmed. Until then, we are unable to assist in the USA.

    We are working to ensure we have all resources in place, and we do not want to expand too early and not be able to help all who need us.
