become an adoption volunteer

Each adoption is facilitated by our team of kind and compassionate volunteers across Canada.

This is a virtual volunteer role that you can do from the comfort of your home. Our adoption volunteers are responsible for writing the adoptables profiles, interviewing potential adoptees, and guiding the families we help through our adoption process. Each volunteer handles one adoption at a time. While each adoption is unique, it typically takes take 10-12 hours over 2-4 weeks to complete an adoption from start to finish. Must be 18+.

  • "Volunteering for My Grandfather’s Cat has been more rewarding than I could have ever imagined. The families I speak with are going through tough times, so knowing that I can ease some of the pressure they are feeling by helping find a second forever home for their animal gives me a sense of joy like no other."

    — Alex, volunteer since 2023

  • "I took in my aunt's senior cat when she passed away, so this cause is close to my heart. I'm proud to be a part of this organization that gives people the peace of mind that their pets will have a safe and happy home."

    — Lish, volunteer since 2023

  • “Volunteering with MGC is so heartwarming knowing that we are helping two families with each adoption. The senior or terminally ill person chooses the family to adopt their special pet giving them peace of mind, and the new family is thrilled to welcome a new addition to their family.”
