our initiatives

Our Rehoming Service

My Grandfather’s Cat provides a free service to help seniors and terminally ill people arrange homes for their pets. Rather than housing animals in a foster system, we arrange for them to move directly from their home into a second forever home.

Our goal is for the animal to stay with their human up until the very last day to provide comfort and companionship to their human. The owner of the animal having the ultimate decision of who adopts their beloved pet.

Our rehoming service is available in all Canadian provinces and territories. There are no costs associated with using our service or adopting.

Our pet pantry

Many seniors have been impacted by the rising cost of food for both themselves and their beloved pets – with some being forced to give up their pets because they cannot afford to feed them.

To alleviate this worry and ensure seniors can keep their pets as long as possible, we created My Grandmother’s Pet Pantry.

Each season, My Grandmother’s Pet Pantry provides 25 seniors with pet food and supplies. The senior can choose the type of food their pet is currently eating and we will ship it directly to their door.

education and awareness

We believe that animals provide an immense amount of comfort and companionship to seniors and terminally ill people, which is why our programs are designed to help those we serve keep their pets up until the very last day.

As many of the animals we help find second forever homes are seniors themselves, we work to showcase the benefits of adopting a senior animal.

To ensure those we serve and those who adopt from us have the information they need to care for their beloved pet, by providing a seasonal newsletter and monthly resource guide in partnership with a licensed veterinarian.
