tom’s story
When his senior human was admitted to the hospital with terminal cancer, sweet Tom was in need of a second forever home in Bedford, Nova Scotia. His human laid in bed worried about what would happen to her best friend. Her granddaughter would have taken him, but she already had cats of her own and Tom was accustomed to being an only child. That’s when her granddaughter contacted My Grandfather’s Cat.
She began working with our volunteer, Lianne, to write Tom’s profile. His sweet green eyes were almost as irresistible as his favourite hobby — wearing ties. When we began to receive applications, the granddaughter was able to sit by her grandmother’s hospital bed as they reviewed the applications together. Tom’s human was able to choose a lovely lady to adopt him, just before she passed away. Tom settled in nicely and now has a guardian angel who will always be watching over him.
”Tom has always held a special place in Nana’s life, and he is honestly what kept her going after my grandfather pass away. The task of rehoming him was so large and my place was already so full. You guys completely took all the stress related to that away.”
