zoey
When her human was diagnosed with terminal cancer and chose medically assisted dying, his beloved 16 year-old cat, Zoey, was in need of a second forever home. His human’s daughter-in-law knew it would be difficult to find Zoey a new home due to her age, that’s when she decided to contact My Grandfather’s Cat.
She began working with our volunteer, Ashley, to find Zoey a second forever home in Victoria, British Columbia. They were prepared that it may take some time for that special person to come forward to adopt Zoey, but as soon as her adoption profile went out to the MGC community, the applications began to come in.
After interviewing many wonderful families, they chose Robyn to give Zoey a second forever home. While Robyn thought she was rescuing a 16 year-old cat, she ended up adopting a best friend for her senior mom.
”She has become an incredible emotional support for my Mom, who is mostly bedridden. Zoey snuggles and quietly talks to Mom. When Mom answers Zoey, she isn't conscious about her speech aphasia. They are just two best friends sharing. Zoey rescued my Mom, and has brought so much to her life.”
Now, two-years later, Zoey has celebrated her 18th birthday is now a beloved member of the family.
“It's been just over two years since we adopted through My Grandfather's Cat. Zoey has brought loving companionship to Mom, as well as purpose. Mom constantly checks to make sure Zoey isn't too hot, or too cold, or in need of anything.”
