how to keep cats stimulated and engaged
Even though cats can sleep many hours a day, it’s important to keep cats stimulated and engaged to ensure they are getting regular exercise. Here are a few of our favourite tips on how to do so.
Variety is Key
Cats often get bored of the same toys. Just like with human children, you can rotate their toys — hiding a few and then switching them if you notice your cat not playing with their current toys rather than consistently buying new toys.
Cat TV
A fun option to keep your cat stimulated is “Cat TV”, which are free Youtube videos of birds, squirrels and wildlife that cats love. You can simply play the Youtube video for them on a TV or laptop and watch the excitement in their eyes.
Food and Treat Puzzles
Giving your cat their daily meals in food puzzles is an excellent way to engage your cat. You can also add their favourite treats to a food puzzle, which may make them more apt to engage in the puzzle.
Adventure Cats
Harness and leash training isn’t just for dogs — many cats can be taught to walk on a harness and thrive going on outdoor adventures, even if it’s just in the backyard or local park.
