Beanie’s story

When Beanie’s senior human moved into a retirement home in Kitchener, Ontario, this sweet gal was in need of a second forever home. Her human’s granddaughter, Rachel, took her in without a second thought, it was only a temporary solution as she was moving in a couple weeks. She knew how important Beanie was to her grandmother, so she took it upon herself to find Beanie a family to love her. That’s when she contacted My Grandfather’s Cat.

The granddaughter quickly began working with our volunteer, Allie, to write Beanie’s profile and send it out to our community. On the same day she was posted, five families immediately applied. Allie interviewed each family and the granddaughter chose Diane and Jim to adopt Beanie within the same week.

Now, one year later, Beanie is thriving in her second forever home, with her favourite past times being snuggling, lounging, being brushed and having snacks.

“It was quickly obvious that Beanie had a wonderful life with Oma, and then Rachel, before she joined our family. Ours is an "open" adoption and I send Rachel texts and pics from time to time.”
