Buddy
When her human was diagnosed with a terminal illness and made the noble decision to move forward with medical assistance in dying, his best friend, Buddy, was in need of a second forever home.
Before the date came, he wanted to find a home for her in London, Ontario, so he asked on social media and many recommended he contact My Grandfather’s Cat. He did just that.
As soon as our team received his application, he began working with our volunteer, Vivian, to find a second forever home for Buddy. He wanted someone to love her and provide her the same home that he did, so he was searching for just the right person.
Meanwhile, Cate was in London, Ontario, scrolling on IG when she saw Buddy’s post. After her senior cat had passed away, Cate had never intended to adopt another pet, but she recognized Buddy as her terminally ill friend’s cat and knew she had to apply.
It wasn’t a doubt in anyone’s mind that Cate was the perfect fit. Buddy moved in a few weeks later, and after a little bit of time, is now once again a snuggle buddy.
“It's taken some time for Buddy to feel comfortable. She was hiding and hesitant. Now, she comes for pets and is so affectionate with lots of purring. He had told me once she's purring, she'll be fine. I can’t believe I have another cat that is so affectionate and loves to cuddle.”
