Chipmunk

One day, a senior was on a walk and saw a small animal curled up in a wooded area. He first thought it was a chipmunk, but then realized it was a small orange kitten. He rescued the little kitten and appropriately named him Chipmunk.

Three years later, Chipmunk and his human moved from Winnipeg to Ontario to be closer to family, only to find out weeks later that his human had terminal cancer. Six months later, he passed away surrounded by family, and his sister took Chipmunk in.

She quickly realized that Chipmunk didn’t get along with her two cats and a dog. She had promised her brother she’d make sure he was cared for, so he reached out to MGC.

She started working with our volunteer, Melanie, to find Chipmunk a second forever home in St. Catharines, Ontario. She was willing to wait as long as it took for the perfect application to come in, but it only took one day for Jason to apply.

After interviewing multiple applications, she couldn’t get over how perfect of a fit Jason was for Chipmunk. He was in the same city and had a similar lifestyle to her brother. She decided Jason should be Chipmunk’s second forever family.

The timing could not have been better as Jason was going to have a few days at home and could ensure Chipmunk’s transition would be smooth and seamless. However, Chipmunk didn’t need it. He settled in immediately, knowing he was home.

Jason had been struggling with the loss of his beloved pet and didn’t know if he was ready until his friend sent him Chipmunk’s post. Knowing Chipmunk was also going through a loss, he knew they could help each other. They are now inseparable.
