Charlie
When his senior human moved into a retirement, her loving cat, Charlie, was in need of a second forever home. Her son and daughter-in-law took Charlie into their home, but instantly realized he did not get along with their other cats. For the next four years, they worked to keep Charlie separate from the other cats in the home, allowing the cats to take shifts in the living room throughout the day.
When Charlie’s human passed away, they considered finding him a home where he could receive the constant love and attention he craved. They began to contact rescues and shelters to search for options, that’s when someone recommended they contact My Grandfather’s Cat.
They began working with our volunteer, Mackenzie, to find Charlie a second forever home in Keswick, Ontario. Applications began to pour in, but they chose Tracy and Steve to be his second forever home.
“I wanted to thank you ever so much for the work you do. The entire process from beginning to end was meticulously thought out. I tried many, many rescues and your rescue came thru for Charlie to find that perfect home.”
Tracy and Steve picked Charlie a few days later — both wearing hilarious cat shirts to showcase their excitement. After one day in his safe space, Charlie made himself at home.
“He is such a chill cat that he has made the transition almost seamlessly,” says Tracy. “He spent one day claiming the laundry room as a safe zone and then decided that the house was a great playground and he has brought us such joy. Thank you so very much in facilitating this very happy move.”
