Midnight
When a senior lady living in a retirement home began to struggle to care for her beloved 16-year-old cat, Midnight, her daughter contacted My Grandfather’s Cat to find her a second forever home.
The senior and her daughter began working with our volunteer, Lish, to find Midnight a second forever home in Vaughan, Ontario. The adoption process began in June 2024. Midnight’s adorable face and sweet personality brought in more than 15 applications, but it seemed like each applicant wasn’t meant to be. Over the next few months, we worked with the daughter, made many social posts, ran ads, interviewed applicants, and took a step back and paused the process when the family needed a break.
In January 2025, the daughter was ready to ramp up the adoption process, so we posted sweet Midnight on our social once again. Just a few short days later, the perfect applicant finally came in, Meghan and Alexandre.
The couple are dedicated members of the MGC community and had been watching Midnight’s reposts for months. They had fallen in love with her and decided to open their hearts and home to her. The senior and her daughter agreed they were the perfect fit.
Seven months after the adoption process had initially started, Midnight was finally in her second forever home. She has settled in, loves being up early for breakfast, and has become the supervisor of anyone who enters the bathroom. They decided to have an open adoption, with the senior still involved in Midnight’s life to provide advise and for the couple to share updates.
“This is going so well. We love her so much. This little cat’s an angel and so are all of you.”
We are so grateful for kind humans like Meghan and Alexandre who keep up with our adoptables and are willing to open their hearts and home to them, and we’re so lucky to have volunteers like Lish who never wavered in her dedication to finding sweet Midnight the perfect second forever home.
