Quivers, Jeremy and Fluffy

When a senior lady in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, was struggling to care for her three cats, Quivers, Jeremy and Fluffy, she reached out to My Grandfather’s Cat. Just two days later, a long-time supporter of MGC, Darlene, reached out to see if by chance we had a pair of cats, or even three cats, coming up for adoption in Wolfville. It seemed like fate.

Before the three were even posted, our founder, Angela, interviewed Darlene and connected her with the senior. When Darlene went for a meet-and-greet, she realized the senior was in dire need of rehoming her cats. Darlene called Angela and they agreed that Darlene would adopt all three on a trial basis. The senior couldn’t have been happier and more relieved.

For the next few months, Darlene got to know her three new roommates. She learned that Quivers thrived on her own, while Jeremy and Fluffy were bonded. After many chats with Angela, and feeling a special connection to 13-year-old Quivers, she decided to keep Quivers and find Jeremy and Fluffy a second forever home, so all three could thrive.

Jeremy and Fluffy were posted to our community, and applications began to roll in. Darlene was nervous about meet-and-greets, as Jeremy and Fluffy often hide when new people come over, but when Jennie and her 14-year-old daughter came over, they came out almost immediately. Darlene knew they were meant to be with Jennie, her husband and their two children.

Jeremy and Fluffy settled into their second forever home. It only took a couple of days for them to come out of hiding, as they thrive with children. Jeremy now sleeps with the 10-year-old at night and Fluffy loves when the kids give her belly rubs. Meanwhile, Quivers is soaking up all the love from Darlene, spending the days curled up on her lap while she works and sleeps in bed with her every night. Together, all three cats are thriving, and the senior has utmost sense of relief.
