shiloh and belle
After a noble battle with terminal cancer, Shiloh and Belle’s human chose medical assistance in dying, meaning his beloved 16 year-old cats were in need of a second forever home.
His daughter knew how much he loved them and how well he cared for them, so she was determined to find them a loving home. That’s when someone recommended she contact My Grandfather’s Cat.
She began working with our volunteer, Katie, to find a second forever home for the girls in Toronto, Ontario. After interview a few applicants, the daughter chose a lady and her mom to adopt the girls and they made the trip to Ottawa.
The girls settled in quickly, but unexpectedly, the lady began to experience allergies. Her heart was broken when she realized she wasn’t able to keep them, but she was determined to work with My Grandfather’s Cat to find them a loving home.
We reposted them to our community immediately, but with the holidays approaching we were prepared that we may not receive applications, but we experienced a Christmas miracle with 17 families applying to adopt the girls.
Together, with their humans daughter, first adoptee, our volunteer and our founder, Nikki and Wayne were chosen to give the girls a second forever home. Now, more than three weeks later, the girls are the light of their life.
“Three weeks ago, we adopted sisters Shiloh and Belle from My Grandfather's Cat, an amazing charity. It was one of the best decisions we've made. They're incredibly sweet and loving, and bring us joy and laughter every day.”
